The Grand Apiary is located in the Antiga Duchy, which is ruled over by the Duchess Malraiya and is located by one of the larger cities within the duchy known as a Colwyn. The apiary acts as the home and gathering point for Antiga's population of giant bees, also known as Dire Bumbles. Products created by the bees include a combination of bumble jelly, bumble royal jelly. The jelly is not only used in the production of the apiary's famous honey. The jelly is also used in products such as potent anti-toxins, balms, and lotions to heal and soothe the body. Another export that might surprise people is the production of Bumble Wax. The wax is able to be sculpted to produce some of most enduring candles. Why else can the taverns from Lamplight City down to Port Kyna keep a candle or lantern at every table? It is because they import Bumble Candles, of course!
The bees around the Grand Apiary can be described as pleasant, but acquired taste when it comes to company. That's not to say that giant bees cannot get ornery, especially if the Queen is endangered. Those same playful bees can get dangerously defensive real fast without proper precautions taken to approach the queen's hive in order to collect royal jelly or potentially extract a queen larvae to help start a second colony in the area.

- The Grand Apiary is a known destination for the 'Circle of the Stinger' bee druids like Beydril Stotch. They often show their oneness with the black-and-yellow by wearing their bee suits and dancing their bee dances.
- Those wanting extra credit from Lamplight Academy can take up animal husbandry, which includes a potential semester up north to work the Apiary.
- Naturally, the flowers in and around the Colwyn area are quite tall and hardy in order to support the pollination by giant bees.
- Two of the sub-apiaries in the area are part of a generous grant from the MoonRaes royal family and given in the name of Princesses Neona and Leona to ensure the prosperity of the giant bees.
